Probably big news for NVDA which is priced to be the AI monopoly. But also, what the hell has AMD been doing if Google can just make a competitive product like it's no big deal.

It does seem like purpose built hardware will beat out the generics over time. We don't see FGPAs used in mass market products very often because they're more expensive than purpose built custom chips. Nvidia GPUs are more dynamic in their potential workflows, but the vast majority of AI use cases are just tensor/LLMs.
