For the longest time I just assumed building rockets and launching satellites into space couldn't possibly compete with existing telecoms like Comcast, Spectrum, Verizon, etc. when digging fiber lines is so much cheaper. But wow, the S-1 points to the rockets + starlink side of SpaceX actually being competitive.
Launch Services (Rockets)
$7.3 billion revenue in 2025 on 67% gross margins.
Telecom (Starlink)
$11.4 billion revenue in 2025, servicing 10 million active subscribers.
Artificial Intelligence (Grok + X)
Lost $6 billion in 2025. But gained contracts with Anthropic and Google, both of which are committing to spend over $1 billion per month to rent GPUs from xAI.
Who knows, maybe this company could actually go to the moon and/or Mars.
