These past earnings are confusing. Macy's blew past expectations, raises full year guidance, and stock jumps over 20% - all on the back of resilient consumers. The same consumers who are struggling to make ends meet, are unable to find jobs, and are generally all around struggling and tightening belts wherever possible. I don't understand how these companies keep posting such strong numbers when everyone around me is broke or close to it. Guess we'll see where this goes.
